MI Marksmen is a safety-first firearms training organization. Every student, guest, instructor, and service customer is expected to follow all safety instructions and applicable laws.
Core Safety Rules
Treat every firearm as if it is loaded. Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you have made the decision to fire. Be sure of your target, your backstop, and what is beyond.
Instructor Authority
Instructors and range staff have final authority during training. Students must immediately follow safety commands, cease-fire instructions, handling directions, loading/unloading procedures, and classroom/range rules.
Prohibited Conduct
Unsafe handling, horseplay, intimidation, intoxication, impairment, disruptive behavior, refusing instructor direction, bypassing safety procedures, or bringing prohibited items may result in removal without refund.
Student Disclosure
Students are responsible for truthfully disclosing information relevant to safe participation, including experience level, equipment concerns, physical limitations that may affect participation, and any legal restrictions related to firearm possession or training participation.
Equipment and Ammunition
Students must bring only lawful, safe, and class-appropriate equipment and ammunition. MI Marksmen may inspect or reject equipment or ammunition when safety concerns exist.
Waivers and Acknowledgements
Class participation may require signed waivers, safety acknowledgements, range rule acknowledgements, emergency contact information, and other compliance forms. Refusal to complete required forms may prevent participation.
No Legal Advice
Training information is educational and does not replace advice from an attorney, law enforcement agency, licensing authority, or government office. Students are responsible for understanding and following applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Emergency Response
MI Marksmen may take reasonable action in response to safety incidents, medical concerns, equipment problems, or emergencies, including pausing training, contacting emergency services, documenting incidents, or removing participants.
Attorney Review Notice
This policy is starter safety/liability website content and should be reviewed by qualified counsel and insurance advisors before final launch.
